The Child and Adolescent Training Program
Clinical Requirements

Candidates will be required to fulfill a clinical requirement of treating child/adolescent patients for five hours per week during the course of training. It may be possible on an individual basis to count some of a candidate's private and agency clinical work toward the program's clinical requirement.

Supervision Requirements

NIP TI's distinguished faculty of supervisors embrace a diverse range of psychoanalytic approaches, but all are conversant in comparative psychoanalytic theory. After the first year, candidates are free to select supervisors whose particular orientations they find congenial. Candidates receive no fewer than two hours of supervision per week.

Personal Psychoanalysis

NIP TI believes that personal and professional growth are inseparable. Accordingly, candidates are required to undergo psychoanalytic treatment at least twice a week while fulfilling the clinical requirement, and are encouraged to seek more intensive treatment (three or four times a week). Training analysts must be approved by the Institute, and must minimally be graduates of a recognized postgraduate training institute.
