NIP Professional Association Membership

Membership in the NIP Professional Association, which runs from January 1st through December 31st of each year, is open to all members of the NIP TI community upon payment of dues and agreement to abide by the rules and regulations of the Professional Association. Membership applications are subject to final approval by the Executive Board. Questions and conflicts regarding eligibility and membership status shall be reviewed and resolved by the Board.

Two membership categories, based on academic status within the Institute, are available:

Full Membership is open to professionals in any of the following categories: NIP TI trustees, board members, and program directors; NIP TI faculty and supervisors; and graduates of any of NIP TI's intensive psychoanalytic training programs. Full members must be licensed or certified in their mental health discipline at the level of independent practice in the state of New York or other recognized jurisdiction and must maintain current malpractice insurance.

Esteemed professionals, who may not meet the above criteria, may be invited by the NIP Professional Association Executive Board to apply for full membership in recognition of their contributions to NIP TI and the psychoanalytic community.

Voting and holding office are privileges of full membership.

Associate Membership is open to candidates in good standing enrolled in any of NIP TI's psychoanalytic training programs. It is also open to graduates of those NIP TI programs that do not meet the criteria for full membership, such as the One-Year Evening Program, the Supervisory Training Program (upon appointment to the NIP TI supervisory list, STP graduates will be eligible for full membership), and the Advanced Training Program of the Center for Spirituality & Psychotherapy. Applications from graduates of related mental health disciplines and psychoanalytic training programs at institutes other than NIP TI will be reviewed by the NIP Professional Association Executive Board for membership in this category.

The privileges of associate membership do not include voting and the holding of office.

Membership Directory

Members of the NIP Professional Association are listed in the Membership Directory. Published annually, the Directory lists members' home and office addresses, telephone and fax numbers, and email addresses. Members' areas of expertise and provider panels on which they participate are also listed, making the Directory a convenient and beneficial tool for patient referrals.
