Helping the Child
and Family Resolve Issues The
Child and Adolescent Treatment Center of NIP TI provides
quality, affordable psychotherapy for children and adolescents.
Our therapists are highly skilled social workers, psychologists,
and other licensed mental health clinicians currently
in postgraduate training in the NIP TI Child and Adolescent
Program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. We are
committed to helping the child and family resolve issues
that have interfered with their emotional well-being
The NIP TI Child and Adolescent Treatment Center functions
on a private practice model. We offer continuity of
treatment with one therapist and the opportunity of
long term psychotherapy when appropriate. Treatment
begins with an assessment of the child's and family's
needs. The therapist formulates an individualized treatment
plan. Children and adolescents are seen individually
from one to three times weekly. Psychotherapy includes
play and talk appropriate to the child's or adolescent's
age, personality, stage of development and problem.
Regular Meetings
with Parents Since we believe
that parents and caretakers are an essential part of
the therapeutic process with children, we schedule regular
meetings with parents and family members, as determined
by the needs of each family. When indicated, conjoint
meetings with various family members may be arranged.
For adolescents, appropriate attention is given to confidentiality
issues. In addition, the therapist consults with the
school and coordinates ancillary services that may be
needed, such as psychological and educational testing,
medication evaluation, tutoring, educational and language
remediation. What
