What You Should Know

At this time, Chickering is the only insurance company covering NIP TI. However, many of our candidates are licensed to accept third party reimbursement. While we do our best to find clients a therapist that is able to work with their insurance plan, we cannot guarantee their availability.

What You Should Do

Be an informed consumer. If you would like to use your insurance, there are certain questions that you should get answers to, prior to beginning treatment. For example:

  • Do you need to see a therapist on a specific panel?
  • Can you see an out-of-network therapist?
  • What, if any, is your deductible?
  • What, if any, is your co-payment?
  • Does treatment need to be pre-authorized?
  • How many sessions are you or your family allowed per calendar year?

Finding the answers to these important questions now, may save you from problems with your insurance in the future.

Sliding Scale Fees

For those individuals who find that their insurance does not cover mental health services or for those who do not have insurance at all, the Institute offers treatment services on a sliding scale basis. Special fees are available for full-time students and the unemployed with valid proof of their circumstance (a letter from the registrar or from unemployment). For others, fees are based on their income and expenses. For individuals who would like to avail themselves of the sliding scale, an application for sliding fees is filled out at the initial evaluation appointment. It is necessary to provide verification of income. For example, a W2 form, tax returns, paystub, etc., are all valid means of proof. If you would like outstanding expenses to be considered (i.e. student loans), feel free to include such documentation. The more information you can provide the Institute, the easier it is for us to set a realistic fee.

Evaluation Consultation

Adults and Couples:
The initial consultation fee is $50 for adults or $60 for couples for a one-hour evaluation consultation.

Children and Adolescents:
For children and adolescents the fee is $100 for a two-hour evaluation consultation, including a guardian meeting.

These fees are for consultations only and are not indicative of future fees, which may be set higher or lower depending on an individual's circumstance.

All fees are due at the time of service and are payable by cash, check, or money order.
